Bethany Update
A Special Report – Bethany’s Annual Meeting Election Results!
As much of the nation breathlessly follows the numerous political straw polls, caucuses and primarily elections occurring throughout the country, we at Bethany also have some late-breaking election news!
First of all, a BIG THANK YOU to all of our faithful members who attended and participated in our Annual Meeting during Worship on Sunday 29 January! Your participation in the life of the church is greatly appreciated and vital to our success and growth in faith and service.
Now, for the Election Results. The Congregation approved a proposal to refinance our mortgage with Thrivent, reducing our interest rate and our mortgage payments by more than $5,500 annually. This important vote reinforces the efforts of our Council to be better stewards of our resources and position ourselves for future growth.
The following people were elected to serve on Council, Nominating Committee, Audit Committee, Trust Committee, Child Development Center Board and as Mission Area Assembly representatives:
Vice President: Ed Boudreau
Secretary: Bob Jameson
Nominating Committee: Irene Hallmon, Bill Martin, Kevin Bernauer
Audit Committee: Paul Bierwagen, Ken Shivers, David Wright
Trust Committee: Linnea Castillo
CDC Board: Lisa Nagid, Susie Branch
Mission Area Assembly Reps: Linda Bernauer, Kevin Bernauer
Melody Shivers, currently serving as Vice President, returns to Council as President and our dedicated Treasurer David Frost will serve us again this year in this demanding role!
In a related story……..
A sudden outbreak of strange growths was observed on the upper lips of some Congregation members during the Annual Meeting. It appeared to be highly contagious. Though its cause is as yet unknown, it appears to have originated from somewhere in or near the Choir. Although apparently no long-term effects are anticipated, you just never know…….

White Rock Center of Hope
The economic downturn in recent years has brought increasing numbers of clients in need to our doors. Through your generosity and compassion, we have been able to mostly keep up with client needs even through the worst of the economic recession.
It's a year-round effort to keep up with the needs of our struggling neighbors. And there are certain areas of need where we always can always use your help: canned soup, bedding in sizes full, queen, and king, and clean, new or like new underwear for men, women, and children. Our resale store is always in need of gently used furniture, clothing and accessories, household goods, ceramics, electronics, books, music, and decorative items to sell to obtain the funds we use to help clients on rent and utilities.
Think of WRCH when you clean out your closets, garage, storage, or other areas and you wonder what to do with all those items that are too good to throw away but you don't use or have room for them anymore. Your discards just might make someone's day. They will certainly help WRCH to meet our clients' needs. Your donations are tax deductible. Be sure to get a donation tax receipt when you drop off your gently used goods.
Another area of need where WRCH can always use your help is with volunteering. Right now, we are starting the WRCH History Project to record the history of the Center, its growth, and its volunteers' efforts throughout the years. We have materials that will need to be typed up and/or scanned for the website. We're also starting a "Muster" or "Roll Call" to record the names of all the volunteers who have contributed to WRCH over the years. We'll need volunteers to take volunteer names and place them in an alphabetical list with their starting years and area(s) of service. We'll have the list on our website, and we'll need volunteers to update the list on an ongoing basis as we receive new volunteers.
WRCH and its clients thank you for your continued generosity throughout the year. Your donations of your time and your goods to WRCH help your neighbors in need.
